Description
The idea behind this work is to reflect on whether a physical wall always appears as a wall or whether it can at times take on the aspect of something completely different. More generally to what degree is a wall a wall or simply an imaginary or abstract concept, constructed by people, much like any other human construction physical, cultural, or psychological?
The work is a series of 10 photographs. It presents the physical walls that surround the artist in his immediate living environment. The photos do not present the walls as such. They present only a minute piece, a fragment, of each wall. As a result, the walls are no longer perceived as walls. They become abstract landscapes of an entirely different sort. Their variety as well as their numerous flaws can be perceived. The title of each photograph corresponds to its geographic coordinates. The work was produced for the project The Wall (archives).
